Check with your cardiologist to see if there is a   rehab program you can attend.  As an example, St. Joseph's Hospital has a rehab unit which places patients on a program  for several weeks providing monitored exercises, strength and endurance training using  weights,  machines and cardiovascular exercises. At each class, there are nurses and  physiologists present. These staff members monitor your blood pressure, heart, blood sugar and your exertion levels.
