Events:Below are scenes from the 3 mile-Denver 2009 Heart Walk sponsored by the American Heart Association on Saturday, June 6th held in Downtown Denver (Lodo Area). It was a beautiful day. The walk started at 8:30 a.m., and we were having such a great time that we left around 4:00 p.m. The actual event was over at about 10:30 a.m. at the latest, I think. There were approximately 2,000 to 2,500 people in attendance. All along the route, we were given water, cheers from various high school cheerleading squads, and local artists sang to us. These professional artists were fantastic. I wanted to just stop and listen, but could not. Afterwards, Albertsons and Subway gave out free lunches. I had a wonderful time, met new friends, walked and talked for about an hour, shopped after the walk and had a very late lunch at Croc's (a local restaurant/bar). Before my heart attack, I would never have participated. The things I am most thankful for because of my triple bypass are new friends, new experiences and a desire to live life to the fullest. (In case my cardiac rehab group is viewing, I could not find you. I must have missed you guys by about 20 minutes.)
From My Heart to Yours...
